    Get PDF
The female reproductive system consists of the ovary, oviduct, uterus, and vagina. This chapter will discuss how these organs look like under the microscope and what types of ultrastructural tissues are present in it, how the shape and physiology of the tissues/cells change with the physiological activities including reproductive cycles, what type of alterations occurs in the ovary during ovulation and how its follicle and epithelium differ, and how the ovulation takes place. The chapter will also elaborate how the lining epithelium and the tract mucosa facilitate the fertilized ovum and conceptus. Also, the chapter is highlighting the architectural changes within the mucosa of the uterus during and after pregnancy and type of ovary and spermatozoa that is most suitable for fertilization

The comparative organogenesis of _Brassica napus_ L cultivars Cyclone, Star and Westar was studied. The cotyledonary explants gave a higher response to all the combinations of 0.5 mg/L 2,4-D and BAP (0.5, 1.0,1.5 and 2.0 mg/L} used for optimizing the conditions for callus induction. The best mean weight and mean length of callus was obtained at 0.5 mg/L 2,4-D and 1.5mg/L BAP for Star cotyledonary explants. For the complete plant regeneration the new method of exposing the explants culture to Growth regulator free medium was performed. The method was applicable to both hypocotyl and cotyledonary explants. The Shoot Induction Frequency for hypocotyl (6-34%) in the three cultivars is higher than the cotyledonary explants (3-23%). The method is speedy and almost all of the shoots and some unshooted calli (78%) form roots on the same media without prior transfer to rooting medium

Resource quality and users satisfaction in public libraries are correlated factors. In resource selection for both the formats i.e. (soft and hard) professional involvement as well as geographical and cultural position of people is mandatory for consideration. The unilateral decision making power of few under the centralized system has left no gap for policy designing by sitting across the table. This study was conducted to explore the challenges faced by Khyber Pakhtunkhawa public libraries in resource selection. A quantitative based study was conducted to collect the relevant data from twelve out of seventeen library professionals in the whole directorate of public libraries and its sub-offices. An in depth study of the relevant literature was carried out to collect the data through questionnaire. The data were later analyzed using SPSS.  Results of the study showed that Khyber Pakhtunkhawa public libraries having no set pattern and concept for printed and e-resource selection and automation of printed materials. In the cyber age e-resources are superseding the printed materials Khyber Pakhtunkhawa public libraries are far away from e-resource provision which need serious consideration on immediate basis. The one-for-all approach has long been a concern in the educational field as it influences learners’ learning capacity negatively. However, it is still practiced by many teachers in Indonesia. This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of Multiple Intelligence-based instruction to increase students’ intrinsic motivation in learning English. It used a quasi-experiment design, and the participants were 40 non-English department students in UIN Walisongo Semarang that were selected using purposive sampling. Activity Perception Questionnaire from Intrinsic Motivation Inventory was used to measure students’ experience of given activities. Analyzed using Mann-Whitney U test, it was found that Multiple Intelligence-based instruction was effective to enhance the value or usefulness, interest, and perceived choice of students. These aspects were critical in the process of internalization and integration, which led to higher intrinsic motivation

oai:ojs2.biosight.org:article/1The purpose of this study was to determine neurotransmitter and vitamin D3 levels in both men and women. Fifty healthy middle-aged men and women of 41.17 ± 9.6 and 42 ± 9.59 years respectively were selected. They have no known disease. While 50 male and female diabetic patients with an average age of 55.5 ± 14.92 and 47.87 ± 10.81 years were selected respectively. Anthropological data, including age, weight and length, were recorded in both controls and patients. To test the hypothesis of study relationship between vitamin D and neurotransmitters was analyzed in both groups. The statistical significance was taken at the p-level <0.05. The diabetic patients had neuropathy for 3 to 5 years with high HbA1c. Age and gender do not significantly affect neuropathy in diabetes. The average standard deviation of vitamin D3 is significantly lower in those having diabetic neuropathies, 12,448 ± 3,519 ng / ml (SD), which is not 24,958 ± 5,419 ng / ml, and was compared with vitamin D3 neuropathy in patients who did not have diabetes. (p <0.01). This analysis has shown that the neuropathy of diabetes is strongly linked to vitamin D3 after including confusion such as "Duration of diabetes and HbA1c". In patients with diabetes, the effects of vitamin D3 on neuropathy and the need for further studies ensure that there is a delay in preventing the dose of vitamin D3 or in the onset of neuropathy due to diabete

Objectives:  Aim of this study is to evaluate the intimal vessel wall thickness in smoker and their co-relation with non-smoker and also surgical management of stenosis. Material and Methods:  It is a prospective study of 55 cases. Study span and follow up duration were 4 months. Our patients were presented with the history of CVA (Cerebrovascular accident), hypertension, diabetes, and headache. Results:  In all patients, the carotid doppler ultrasound was done and their intimal vessel wall thickness was noted. Our 78% patients were smoker and non-smoker was 22%. In our study, 52% patients had CVA, 41% patients had hypertension, 30% patients had headache and 9% patients were also obese. Forty three smokers used to take 15 – 25 cigarettes daily. Among 43 patients, 5 patients were females. In carotid Doppler study, intimal thickness was increased in 87%, the plaque was observed in 49% and stenosis was observed in 38% cases. In 18 % patients, who had stenosis > 70%, carotid endarterectomy was performed and in rest of the patients medical treatment done.Patients who were chronic smokers and had medical co-morbidities showed greater thickness of intimal layer of vessels on carotid Doppler. In 6 patients, post-operative headache occurred. Conclusion:  Smokers had more thickness of intimal layer of carotid vessels. Carotid endarterectomy yields good results in case of stenosis more than 70%. Keywords:  Cerebrovascular accident, Intimal layer thickness, Carotid doppler ultrasound, Cigarette smokin

Effects of Allium sativum in cardiovascular diseases: A Review

Epidemiologic studies show an inverse correlation between garlic consumption and progression of cardiovascular disease. Cardiovascular disease is associated with multiple factors such as raised serum total cholesterol, raised LDL and an increase in LDL oxidation, increased platelet aggregation, hypertension, and smoking. Numerous in vitro studies have confirmed the ability of garlic to reduce these parameters. Thus, garlic has been shown to inhibit enzymes involved in lipid synthesis, decrease platelet aggregation, prevent lipid peroxidation of oxidized erythrocytes and LDL, increase antioxidant status, and inhibit angiotensin-converting enzyme. These findings have also been addressed in clinical trials. The studies point to the fact that garlic reduces cholesterol, inhibits platelet aggregation, reduces blood pressure, and increases antioxidant status. Since 1993, 44% of clinical trials have indicated a reduction in total cholesterol, and the most profound effect has been observed in garlic's ability to reduce the ability of platelets to aggregate. Mixed results have been obtained in the area of blood pressure and oxidative-stress reduction. The findings are limited because very few trials have addressed these issues. The negative results obtained in some clinical trials may also have resulted from usage of different garlic preparations, unknown active constituents and their bioavailability, inadequate randomization, selection of inappropriate subjects, and short duration of trials. This review analyzes in vitro and in vivo studies published since 1993 and concludes that although garlic appears to hold promise in reducing parameters associated with cardiovascular disease, more in-depth and appropriate studies are required. Three possibilities can occur when religion enters a society already having its own culture and traditions: acceptance, rejection, and adjustment. This study analyzed the socio-religiosity of the Kalang people, a minority ethnic group in Kendal, following the arrival of Islam into their lives. Highlighting how they practiced their worship and presented their identity in the majority of Muslim society, this research is intended to find the socio-religious practices of the Dukun (shaman) Kalang as a representation of Kalang people and unveil her critical roles in the Kalang socio-cultural system, such as leading every ritual activity, and being a source of knowledge about Kalang teachings and other mystical information about ancestral spirits. Applying the qualitative method, the results showed that the Kalang shaman's religiosity model symbolized the way of religion without losing faith in indigenous culture and traditions. This spiritual adaptation model, in the perspective of symbolic interaction, can be interpreted as a form of resistance and as a strategy to maintain the cultural identity of the minority amid the threat of extinction due to the penetration of major ideologies, including mainstream religions
